PLAN, last update 2012/05/01

Hi,

Not so much travel so not so much to post here since I have started my working life... But keep posted... Things can always change ;)

In the meantime, I wish the blog might still help you traveling. I will still be available for any question!

Cheers,

NORWAY

Destination Oslo...

Last weekend, we went with few friends to Oslo. A very short weekend for a very nice visit...

As soon as we touched down in Rygge, one hour south of Oslo, we had an overview of how our weekend was going to be: rainy...
We jumped straight into a bus to get the capital city. We got to the hostel in the early evening, dropped our bags and went for diner.

We started wandering around as the night was showing up. The rain was still there and after an hour we were soaked... Back to the hostel...

In the morning, after a copious breakfast, we were ready for a full day visit. It was still rainy, but arrayed with poncho, nothing could stop us.

The backyard of the guesthouse, in the morning...

Oslo Cathedrale

We walked around in the center... The architecture is not so wonderful, nevertheless, façades can be quite colorful and plenty of flowers decorate the streets wich make the walk quite nice... Oslo is not a such big city, pretty quiet and definitely not overcrowded. The atmosphere reminded me of Sweden.

A troll, emblem of Norway...

Stortinget, the seat of Norway's Parliement

Royal Palace

We could attend the changing of the guard...

On the way to the city hall...

We then took the road to the brand new Holmenkollen ski jump. A nice construction overlooking the city.

From the tram...

Here it is... with Clara, Vivien, Claire and Maud, schoolmates.

Even if the weather was not good, the view was enjoyable...

We went then back to the city center to get a ride by boat to the museum peninsula. We had our cruise on the Northern Sea, walk around and got back to the center for a salmon burger!

At night, we went to a bar and discovered a bit of the norwegian nightlife... It was a bit less cloudy so we could see that day time is extremely long up there. Around 3 hours of night time at this period of the year.
In the morning, we went to the Opera. A brand new building facing the sea...

That's about it for this weekend... We went back to France on Sunday afternoon.

Oslo is a nice and quiet city, perfect for a relaxing weekend abroad. We were unlucky with the weather but we had good time together, thanks to my travelling fellows!
