PLAN, last update 2012/05/01

Hi,

Not so much travel so not so much to post here since I have started my working life... But keep posted... Things can always change ;)

In the meantime, I wish the blog might still help you traveling. I will still be available for any question!

Hong-Kong

Here we go for a very nice week-end in Hong-Kong and Macau...
I took a plane on Friday and landed in Hong Kong in the evening. I found a guesthouse in Tsim Sha Tsui area. Good and cheap enough to visit for few days...

On Saturday, we left with Laura, French girl I met there, toward the Peak. This is a building at the top of the hill from where we expected to enjoy the scenery of the city.

On the way through the Hong-Kong park...

The peak...
Unfortunately, the view was misty, clouds were too low so we couldn't see much, but still, here are some snaps...

The other side of the hill...

View of Hong-Kong Island... The main area...

We went down then to the center to walk around in the neighborhood of Soho. Here we had lunch. Afterward, we kept walking and took a tramway toward the east.

Tramway...

On the way back, I stopped at the Stars Avenue, where I took some picts of this wonderfull view of Hong kong island... On the esplanade, there are stars with handprints of the major actors of the Hong Kong cinema, as well as a retrospective of its history...
We went back there in the evening where stands a light show...

I went then alone walking in Tsim Sha Tsui to discover the Jade market...

On the way...

Jade market...

People reading in your hand...

In the evening, back to the Stars Avenue...

Jackie Chan's star...
Bruce Lee...

On Sunday, I went to the Po Lin Monastery, on lantau Island. Here stands the world's tallest outdoor seated bronze Buddha... Unfortunately, the weather, once again, was not good, too cloudy...

On the way, from the bus...

Here we are... We are normaly supposed to see Buddha at the top of this stairs...

Giant Buddha...

I didn't stay so long because we couldn't see much due to the clouds... I went down to the Monastery...

The visit was pleasant and very interesting... I was just a bit disappointed because of the weather that did not allow me to see much... The landscape should be very nice overthere...

Back in Hong Kong...

On Monday, for the last day, I went to visit Macau, well known for its casinos, one hour away from Hong-Kong by ferry...

Macau fisherman's Wharf... An entertainment resort...

Sands casino...

Taipa Island...

Statue of Kun Iam... Popular goddess amongst Buddhists who plays a special role in protecting children...

Casinos...

On the left, the Church of Our Lady of Penha...

Sai Van Bridge to Taipa...

Macau tower, from where you can go bungee jumping, the highest in the world, 200 metres...

A-Ma temple...

I walked then in the center, following a touristic way...

St Lawrence's Church...

The theater...

The Institut of Civic and Municipal Affairs Building...

Senado Square...

St Dominic's Church...

Jerked beef and pork...

Ruins of St Paul's...

View from Monte Fort...

Macau Protestant Chapel...

Once the visit done, I have been to some casinos, but being not a fan I din't stay so much there.. I just walked around taking some pictures...

The market...

That's it for this weekend... I discovered two pleasant places. Both cities are old colonies from European countries and I think that we feel it well here... There are cosmopolitan cities where it is easy to go around and where you cannot get lost because everything in either in English and Chineese or Portuguese and Chineese...
I enjoyed a lot that week-end! Hong-Kong is such a well organized city with huge buildings well harmonized with the nature around...
